Believers Emancipating Believers (BEB) Our mission is to help free any and all reformed/rehabilitated children, women and men by advocating their freedom from a human right and moral standard.
Believers Emancipating Believers(BEB)
Our Vision is to unite all reformed prisoners, their families/friends, spiritual clergy leaders along with every citizen in Louisiana. To demand justice in the form of freedom on behalf of each reformed prisoner.
Believers Emancipating Believers(BEB) was created by Dwayne "Twin" Leblanc and launched in 2023. B.E.B. Board members are Dwayne and Dwight LeBlanc, Ronald Rankins Jr. and Jeff Gladney. We are open to partnering with other human rights and prison rights advocates and anyone who is willing to sacrifice their time, energy and resources to help free reformed children, women and men.
The state of Louisiana stands in need of rights advocates and incarceration reform
due to several pressing issues within its criminal justice system. Louisiana
consistently ranks among the highest in the nation for its incarceration rates,
disproportionately affecting marginalized communities, particularly African
Americans.
This overreliance on incarceration not only strains state resources but also
perpetuates cycles of poverty and crime. Rights advocates are essential to address
systemic injustices, such as biased sentencing practices and inadequate access to
legal representation, which contribute to this cycle. By advocating for reforms that
prioritize rehabilitation and alternatives to incarceration, advocates can promote
fairness and equality within the criminal justice system, ultimately leading to safer
communities and reduced rates of recidivism.
Moreover, Louisiana's need for incarceration reform extends beyond the
humanitarian aspect to include economic considerations. The high cost of
maintaining an extensive prison system places a significant burden on taxpayers
while yielding limited returns in terms of rehabilitation and crime prevention. By
redirecting resources towards community-based initiatives, such as mental health
services, substance abuse treatment, and education programs, the state can
address underlying issues that contribute to criminal behavior more effectively.
Additionally, reforms aimed at reducing mandatory minimum sentences and
expanding opportunities for parole and probation can promote rehabilitation and
reintegration into society, thereby reducing the long-term societal and economic
costs associated with incarceration. In essence, rights advocates and incarceration
reform are crucial for fostering a more just, humane, and cost-effective criminal
justice system in Louisiana.
The Butterfly represents 3 stages of the human spiritual, physical and mental development. For an example: The caterpillar( unreformed human being/prisoner) is the very first stage which represents the unbridled soul who refuses to listen to any form of authority (God, Parents, etc).
In order for the human caterpillar to successfully transition to the second stage of his/her development is only by way of the human caterpillar eating “green leaves,”which represents the color of life, a proper education and God’s divine scriptures. Without such an education, the “human caterpillar” may not make it to his/her second state or cocoon stage of its developmental life cycle due to its own destructive and immoral behavior.
The second stage of the Human butterfly development is called the “Cocoon or Cell state.” Here the “Human Cocoon” enamors him/herself in complete silence, peace, meditation, prayer, knowledge, self love, self reflection. This is the stage where God has the human being entire attention. This is the stage in the human beings life where he/she has to make one of the most important choices in its entire life. The choice to go forward in progress as a civilized “Human Butterfly”or to allow its soul to die in the state of immortality(career criminal) and ignorance.
The final state of the butterfly development is called, “The butterfly human being.” This is the graduation and maturity of the human being. The reformed and highly educated child, woman and man. The human being is no longer a prisoner, offender, inmate,or carry his or her distinctive pre prison nick names like “Dog”, “Clown”, or “Nigga.” The human butterfly fly is a very good and soft hearted child, woman or man. A very trustworthy human who loves peace. The human butterfly will never crawl and walk with his past vices. She/ He loves God and forgives others and are so soft hearted that they would actually protect us and sacrifice their life for the cause of God to help anyone.

I was born in May of 1978 in New Orleans, not too far from segregation, the civil rights movement, the FBI'S Counter-Intelligence-Program and the assassinations of Minister Malcolm X, Dr Martin Luther King Jr., and Black Panther Party spokesman for Self-Defense, Fred Hampton. The 1970s prison boom was in effect. Deindustrialization, the flight of jobs, family breakdown, violent crime, and community decay was on the rise. It was the time of the Iran Contra Affair(Google it) and the international smuggling of high powered machine guns and cocaine across America's borders and into American communities. The cocaine turned into crack in the late 70s in South American countries and in the early 80s in the United States.
Unfortunately, the crack entered my family's home in the form of addiction and destroyed my family. I grew up very early with the influence of drug-trafficking, smoking weed, gangster rap, drinking alcohol, substance abuse, and living desperately. I was arrested twice for shoplifting. Then next was possession of crack cocaine. Next was a 38 revolver. After that, and unfortunately, the killing of my best friend which a reasonable observer can conclude stem from a mental health disorder linked to economic deprivation. (See manuscript to read my full story at www.humanfaces.org.)
All of this didn't dawn on me until years later in the early 2000s when I was in solitary confinement in Camp J at Angola, Louisiana State Penitentiary. I was locked in a six by nine (6×9) cell for 24 hours a day for over 15 years as disciplinary punishment for refusing to pick the crop in the fields. There were guys alongside of me in the cells and at times there were peace, at other times there was total madness. Throwing feces. Loud noise. Guards use of tear gas. No mental health care. No rehabilitation programming. Just locked in a box covered up so that no one could hear or see what was going on but the guards and the inmates in the immediate housing area.
There was always someone around who would talk about the injustice in the conditions we were living in. I initially heard dudes talk about the black panthers. Later, I read about Nat Turner. Denmark Vessey. Henry Highland Garnet. David Walker. Harriet Tubman. Frederick Douglas. Abraham Lincoln. The Emancipation Proclamation. The Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen, and Abandoned Lands. The assassination of president Lincoln and the 13th Amendment's slavery exception clause, Black Codes, lynching, the peonage of sharecropping, segregation, wage slavery and the labor strikes, the Oklahoma City Massacre, and similar anti-black racism and human rights violations that continues to this day.
I kept reading until I began to see myself born in a protracted struggle for human liberation. Today I see myself as an anti-slavery and human rights revolutionary and freedom fighter. I am founder of Afrikan Americans Freedom Union® (AAFU), a 501 (c) (3) tax exempt nonprofit corporation that advocates for liberty and human rights for all human beings, but which has a special focus on recovery from the impact of hundred of years of enslavement and Jim Crow on the lives of Afrikan Americans in history and today. I am also co-founder of the Human Faces Campaign Project: Breaking The Cycle Of Mass Incarceration.
I am preparing to go to court soon in Orleans Parish to tell my story and you are welcome to come out and show support. Contact me at humanfaces@gmail.com or at 785-640-4255 for more details. Also, I am preparing for reentry into society after approximately three decades of incarceration and plan to use AAFU to advocate for economic and civil assistance and humanitarian aid for oppressed people. Contact me at aafreedomunion@gmail or at 785-640-4255 if you would like to volunteer and help AAFU accomplish its mission. See afrikanamericansunion.org.

Hello to everyone and May God Bless You. My name is Darren E Kenny, I am a 60 year old man serving a 23 year sentence for aggravated burglary. I have been incarcerated for over 10 years and I have involved myself in all of the rehabilitative programs that are being offered in Elayn Hunts Correctional Center. I accept responsibility for the wrongs that I have committed. And I have now evolved from a caterpillar or (uncivilized human)into a butterfly or (moral human). I can honestly say that I am not the same 49 years old drug addict that committed this crime. I now see and feel the change within me, and I prove it to myself by staying positive on a daily basis. Presently, I am in need of a criminal lawyer. An Attorney who would file a Louisiana Criminal Code of Procedure, 930.3 petition on my behalf. I’ve lost so many love ones since my incarceration. As well as, one of my most closest of supporters in my life being my brother who is on the above picture with me.
In closing, I want to thank the entire Believers Emancipating Believer’s organizational staff members for believing in my reformation and giving me a platform to be heard. Sincerely Yours, Brother Mr. Darrin Kenny #103498

While incarcerated, I used to always stand up for prisoners’ human rights and promote respect, unity,
and love. I was released from prison as a man on a mission to promote a great cause on behalf of
incarcerated reformed children, women, and men. So, I launched a non-profit with some family and
great friends called, “Believers Emancipating Believers” of Louisiana.
My hobbies are reading, fishing, and mentoring our youth of all ages.

While incarcerated, I would learn several skills such as horticulture, electrical, troubleshooting and building PCs to which I would be awarded certifications. In 2004, I would travel to the parole board of Louisiana and install their first TV monitor so that all future pardon and parole hearing could be had to this very day. In 2012, I would be nominated as a Hero of the month in the city of New Orleans, by the Times-Picayune's newspaper for creating a program to help employ newly released prisoners. Currently, I work as a Project manager doing IT work contracting inside of some of the world's largest networks of hospitals.I have a knack for reaching men, women and kids who don't understand how valued they are to our world.
